Quoting: Grzegorz-, Post -28 Yanks calling us idiots... that's funny indeed. its no different for you then for us who are polish in America and having to hear it but just as they joke, we do retort back. whats good for the goose is good for the gander. I pay no attention now, and most of the time, if it is a polish joke, they tend to be more consious of that fact and ask if your offended. some do, not all. but being born in America, second generations and third gens, and hearing jokes like that, then hearing that we are thought of as morons. well either way isnt very encouraging when your attempting to connect with your culture. But I would think other nationalitys have same problems. because once you leave no one thinks of you as a part of that culture because you dont live there. It hard either way.

Dealing with constant insults against Polish
Hello. My name is Benjamin Spychaj. I recently mentioned I am Polish to my friends and they constantly make jokes about my people. Every single day I have to hear about how Polish cavalry attacked German tanks with swords, how Polish have small penises, how "Polacks" are stupid and cannot do anything right. Does anyone have good ways to counter these kinds of jokes? Sometimes they really piss me off and I am tempted to go Polack and throw them out the window. Benjamin Spychaj

Every language is unique
There does'nt exist a language that would'nt have its own, unicue and non-translateable sentences. In this topic i would like to share with that information and i would apreciate that if you too would share with sentences (even jokes) you know. The first sentence (for a start) is a not-so-well-known polish joke: "Na galezi siedza dwa golebie; jeden grucha a drugi jablko" literally it means: "Two pidgeons are sitting on a branch; the first one warbles, the second apple" the spot, where is this non-translatable thingy is a word "grucha", which not only means "warbles" but is also known as "pear" (normaly said "gruszka" instead of "grucha") So the entire sentence would sound: "Two pidgeons are sitting on a branch; the first one pear, the second apple" What is most fun in this joke is the fact, that even in the polish language it makes no sense (accualy nothing else is funny in it...and that m
